About Us
KK London is a two-person studio. Amy and Alexis Pratsides own it between them, run it between them, and answer your emails between them.
Amy Pratsides, Creative Director and CMO
Before KK London, Amy spent five years as Group Resourcing Manager for Jaeger and Aquascutum, appointing the senior people who ran two of Britain's oldest fashion houses. She worked directly with Harold Tillman, then Jaeger's chairman and majority shareholder, and with the design teams at every level of the business.
It is an unusual route into designing a range, and a useful one. Five years of sitting with designers, understanding what each team needed before she could hire for it, teaches you how a British heritage brand decides what to put its name on: which ideas get made, which get killed, and why a house with two centuries behind it says no to most things.
Since then she has raised a family and built a PR business of her own, which she still runs alongside KK London. It is why press and collaboration emails come straight to her rather than to an agency, and why the brand side of this business is in the hands of somebody who does it professionally elsewhere.
Hers is the eye behind everything here. She decides what gets drawn and in what colour, which is why the marbles, ginghams and polka dots arrive as families that sit together rather than as one-off prints that happened to be available.
It is also why the range reads like a fashion range. A colourway is chosen against what people are actually wearing this season, not against what prints cheaply, and a print earns its place by working on a case at arm's length rather than by looking busy on a screen.
Alexis Pratsides, CEO and CTO
Alexis runs the other half: the production side, and the software that turns a finished design into a case cut for each of the 32 iPhone models we make. Every camera opening in the range is measured against that phone's own dimensions rather than guessed, which is the unglamorous work that decides whether a case looks right in the hand.
Designed in London
Every design starts here, drawn by us. Nothing is licensed, nothing is bought from a pattern library, and nothing is the same print you have already seen on ten other sites. The colour palettes, the scale of a check, the spacing of a spot: somebody decides those, and that decision is what you are buying.
Made when you order it, one at a time
Nothing is made in advance. Your case is printed and assembled after you order it, for the exact iPhone you chose, and it is printed one at a time: not a run of five hundred down a conveyor, and not a batch printed months ago and boxed until somebody wants one.
That is slower than pulling a box off a shelf and we think it is worth it. No warehouse full of last season's prints, nothing made in the hope somebody buys it, nothing thrown away at the end of a season. It also means a design can join the range the week it is drawn, and a new iPhone the month Apple ships it.
